Prep App – Privacy Policy

Prep App ("the app") is an offline emergency-preparedness app. This policy explains what information the app handles and what happens to it.

Information you enter

The app stores the information you choose to enter, such as your country, the number of people and pets in your household, your inventory of supplies and where they are kept, emergency contacts, your household emergency plan, medical notes, maintenance checks and saved map waypoints.

This information is saved in a database in the app's private storage on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

Location

If you use the GPS page, the app asks for permission to access your device's location. Your location is used only on your device, to show your position on the offline map and to work out the distance and direction to waypoints you have saved. It is used only while you are using the app, is never sent anywhere, and is not stored unless you choose to save a waypoint.

You can refuse or withdraw location permission at any time in your device settings. The rest of the app works without it, and you can enter a position by hand.

Compass and motion sensors

The compass reads your device's magnetometer and motion sensors to show your heading. These readings are used only on the device and are not stored.

Phone calls and links

When you tap a phone number, the app opens your phone's dialler with the number filled in. When you tap a link to official advice, it opens in your web browser. Those apps are covered by their own privacy policies. Prep App does not see or record your calls or browsing.

Backups

You can export a backup of your data. The backup is saved to the app's storage on your device and copied to your clipboard. Where it goes after that is up to you.

Deleting your data

You can delete everything at any time in Settings → Delete all data. Uninstalling the app also removes all of its data from your device. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.

Third parties

The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics or tracking code. The map data is from Natural Earth (public domain) and is built into the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
